crescendo

I’m loving this.

Something about emo art moves me.
I’m not sure what it might be, yet.
The way a spiral dwindles downwards, a vortex of self destruction,
Indicates the existence of something that’s beautifully real.

Keep out the light.
’Cos this soul only shines in the dark.

we loved… like love was a religion.

And the Judotter FINALLY posts a new podcast…
About time.

Iris Judotter Podcast Number 4

I featured two tracks on the 4th installment of my podcasts.
Second album contender, “Moth To Flame” and “We Loved (Like Love Was A Religion)”. Both tracks were inspired by an ex lover whose name shall remain unmentioned for the good of my heart.

iris judotter broken, not hurt

An unscheduled encounter with the unmentioned ex inspired a whole barrage of poems, drawings which are more like doodles really (refer to picture below) and a long string of tragic love songs (most of which will not end up in the album on the grounds of being too depressing).

Broken, not hurt bear.“Moth To Flame” has instantly become one of my favourite tracks in the upcoming album. I’ve been crazily obsessed with the tragically romantic notion of how moths are attracted to flame. Much like how most of us are, similarly, to our unhealthy love lives. Nothing thrills a depressingly dark singer songwriter the way tragic romantic notions do. So writing a song with that premise in mind was quite a breeze.

“We Loved (Like Love Was A Religion)” was a branch of a poem I wrote previously titled “Home”. My favourite line from that poem which did not end up on the song is, “If home is where my heart is, my home is you…”

Pee did a fabulous piece of work with that poem and the picture of it is permanently pinned on my blog. I shall leave it there till we come up with another collaboration. Soon, I hope!

I like taking pictures. I’m no photographer. I dabble.
Here are some of snap shots that have struck a chord.

Pee took my poem and transformed it into one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen. This is why my heart is dancing a happy dance today. Thank you Pee. You rock. You truly do.

love is…

Posted in Love, art, friends, wants on February 19, 2009 by irisjudotter

Pee’s new work is up on the walls of Toca! The bare walls are starting to bear resemblance to why I fell in love with Toca in the first place. A lesbian joint owned by lesbians, for lesbians who get served by lesbians and the biggest charm of it all, art by lesbian artists.

I gasped at a little frame with Pee’s signature typology that read, “Stop leaving me Please”. I want.

Then there’s this huge one full of quotes from friends, with what they think love is. My favourite one is the one with a search engine and reads, ‘love is what we’re all searching for’ Fucking brill. I told Pee, if I had been online to give her my two cents on what love is… mine would be ‘love is a perfect fuck.’ Metaphorically, of course.

Love is a perfect fuck, when your lover looks at you and you get a tingle down your spine. When she says a word and it resonates within your soul, reverberating even in the quietest silences. When her absence gives you so much pain that it’s almost pleasure, knowing what you feel for her is real.

Love, is a perfect fuck, encompassing all the beauty in pain that your wildest imagination would not have been able to prepare you for. A ride not fit for the faint-hearted, and taken best when you wear nothing but your heart on your sleeve.

induced laughter

Posted in art, haha on August 12, 2008 by irisjudotter

When you reach a certain age, you’ll find that you need so much more to induce laughter.
These make me laugh when I’m not youtubing for singing dogs to make me smile.

i’m punkin’ y’all

Sweetheart of the year calls me the original prankster and I’m definitely so.
While looking at David Shrigley’s photography collection, Dom and I came up with an idea for a prank in tribute to the laughter that Shrigley’s art has given us. Tune in and wait… Singapore, you’re in for something.

This will be a national joke.
